Wolves advance to SPSL Final with 10-0 win

From the Wolves...

SPSL Premier Semi-Final Recap: Wolves 10, Lagers 0
The Wolves scored 4 times in the first half and six in the second to blank the 7-3-0 Lagers, 10-0, in the Starfire Premier Soccer League Semi-Finals. With the matches start delayed 35 minutes because of the previous semi-final going into overtime and eventually ending in a penalty shootout, Wolves' coaches Alex Weaver and Ryan Dortch needed to be creative in order to prepare their squad for kick-off. Whatever they did, it worked. After gaining and maintaining possession in the first 10 minutes, Wolves' captain, Brian Lubeck, scored at 10:45 in, with a 25 yard blast to open up the scoring. After a corner taken by Thiago Silva was deflected out of the box, an on-running Lubeck played the ball off the volley in to the lower right hand corner through traffic and triumphantly celebrated the second goal of his Wolves career.

Daniel Scott scored at the 27:25 mark of the first half off of a corner kick from Silva. Mark Conrad and Silva also added first half goals, with assists coming from Willie Cardenas and Conrad, respectively.

Conrad completed his hat trick of goals with two in the second half. Matt Hulen added one of his own with a beautifully struck free kick. Andrew Hulen scored twice and assisted defender, Brian Meherg, on the 10th Wolves' goal of the match. Wolves' GK, Pete Lechak, making his first start since a knee injury sidelined him late in the SPSL season, came up with key saves late in the match to preserve the shutout victory.

Mark Conrad scored a hat trick in the Wolves' playoff victory.

SPSL Premier Final Preview: Wolves v. FC Sheriff

The Wolves will face FC Sheriff (5-2-3) in the SPSL Premier Finals tonight (Sunday 12/7) at 8:00pm in the Starfire Stadium. During the regular season, the two sides drew 2-2 in a physical match which saw the Wolves playing catch up during most of the match.

Missing key midfielders, the number 1 seed, Seattle Americans (9-0-1) faced FC Sheriff in the first semi-final. The match ended 0-0, and remained scoreless after two 15 minute overtime periods. FC Sheriff won the match 4-3, as the Americans missed their final penalty. Sheriff is a team with strong local support and will no doubt enter the final excited to make a statement.
