Current Sounders 'franchise' off to Bremerton, PDL?
The current Seattle Sounders 'franchise' looks to be moving to Bremerton and joining the Premier Development League (PDL) in 2009.
This is the 'franchise' only, meaning current Sounders part-owner Robin Waite can transfer his USL ownership over. The 'Kitsap Soccer Club' will have a new name in its new league.
Read my recap of the September 11th Bremerton public meeting over use of Bremerton's Memorial Stadium for pro soccer.
Most of the audience had no direct knowledge of the United Soccer Leagues, but when Waite said the 2009 season would go from "May to July," I asked him to clarify, and out came the whole move to the PDL and his hopes to rally enough PDL clubs in the West to create a USL Second Division...
Meanwhile this pretty much puts to rest the hope that a United Soccer Leagues First Division Club will remain in the Puget Sound region.
Unless, of course, Tacoma Tide FC have found investors willing to make that leap.
