Naming the Qwest Field 'Stands'
It's tradition in world football to give names to 'stands' of home grounds.
In Seattle the Emerald City Supporters are calling the South end of Qwest Field the "Brougham End" after the street that runs nearest that end of the venue. 'The Brougham Boys 1974' will be an ultras subset of the Emerald City Supporters.
My season tickets are up north, so I thought I'd throw out the idea of calling the North end the "King Street End." Obviously it also takes its name from a nearby street, but it also has the cool connection of honoring historical King Street Station, where Sounders FC fans may one day exit a Sounder commuter train on their way to a match.
What do you think?
Are your tickets on the East or West? What should those stands be called?
Seattle Sounders have history going back to 1974. Might I suggest East or West start a movement to honor "Mr. Sounder" Jimmy Gabriel in some way?
Get on it, Sounders fans!
