Saturday is for WINNERS

Every so often, but ever so rarely, a day comes when all of the clubs whose progress we follow seem to rise up as one and represent our sport and area with big victories. I am more than happy to report that...

Saturday July 26 was a day for winners!

Le Toux's match-winner is celebrated.

The Seattle Sounders beat the Charleston Battery 1-0 on a second-half goal from Sebastien Le Toux.

Read reports from the Sounders, Seattle Times, ProstAmerika and The Seattle Pitch.

The Sounders Women beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 in the playoffs to advance to the W-League Final Four.
A spectacular bicycle kick from Sounders top scorer Chalise Baysa on minute 67 was the difference.

The Tacoma Tide beat the Fresno Fuego 3-0 in Fresno to advance to the Western Conference Final Sunday night against the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency. Goals from Daniel Scott (Zach's brother), Spencer Schomaker and Chase Tangney led TFC. The Tide and 'Caps split matches in the regular season. Read our GOALTacoma.com report.

In Surrey, British Columbia, Seattle Wolves FC stunned Surrey United by taking them 3-2 in penalty kicks and moving into the Challenge Cup Final today. The Wolves will face top of the table Victoria United in the league final.

I like Saturdays.
