Sounders break through in Montreal

Le Toux in the rain in Montreal.
(from the Impact club website.)

It wasn't pretty, but does it matter?

The Seattle Sounders will gladly take their hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Montreal Impact on Sunday July 13th in the French Canadian city.

Put to rest are at least two long streaks:

1. First league win in 35 days.
2. A goal finally scored after 393 minutes without one.

It was Sebastien Le Toux getting on the close end of a cross from Leighton O'Brien and tucking it home in the 73rd minute that stood up for the Sounders.

Before and after it was all Montreal. The Impact dominated long stretches of the match and Seattle keeper Chris Eylander and the back line played valiantly to keep them out.

It was Seattle's 6th match in 13 days.

The Sounders are now 5-4-8 in league play with 23 points. They jump up to third in the table with the win.

Seattle now gets a short breather of four days before taking on the Rochester Rhinos Friday July 18th at Starfire Sports Complex.
